OUR MISSION is to provide support to young women who are experiencing the chronic symptoms of lipedema and help them obtain the resources needed to confirm a diagnosis and manage the disease.

What is Lipedema?

Lipedema is a chronic medical condition characterized by a symmetric buildup of adipose tissue (fat) in the legs and arms.

A common but under recognized disorder, lipedema may cause pain, swelling, and easy bruising. It may be accompanied by an unusual texture within the fat that can feel like rice, peas, or walnuts beneath the surface of the skin.

You’re Not Alone

“I knew something was wrong at the age of 12 when both my legs suddenly swelled up with no other explanation… I want younger patients to know how important it is to be your own advocate, get multiple opinions, do your research, and listen to your gut and your body.” - Laura, Age 35, Stage 2

“I was diagnosed last September. It’s an emotional roller coaster but it brings so much peace knowing it’s really not my fault I can’t lose weight like my friends and there is hope with different treatments. I want as many women to know as young as possible it gives them the best chance at early intervention and management.” - Ashley, Age 37 Stage 2

“I knew I had it when I found the same body type on an international instagram post. I felt validated that it wasn't just me. I would want younger patients to know that compression/preventative measures will be helpful even if it doesn't seem like it.” - Becca, Age 35, Stage 2

“I never understood why my legs and arms looked and felt so different than all of my friends. It didn’t matter what workouts I did or what diet I was on, they wouldn’t get toned or feel less heavy. When I was diagnosed with Lipedema a lightbulb went off and I realized that I wasn’t crazy and there really was a reason behind the way my body looked and reacted.” - Kara, Age 38, Stage 3
